There's quite a few horror movies where silence plays a role, but I can't think of many where silence almost has the leading role. Don't Breathe
(2016) comes close, but not quite to the level of A Quiet Place
. The sound design is not the only thing about this movie, though. The attention to details, the way the story unfolds and the performance of the actors all play well together to create an intriguing story and just the intensity it needs. I think the monsters are a bit too much, and we see too much of them – a very common mistake, but it does not hurt the film too much. All in all a great film!
