Went to visit Keiko
's gravemound this weekend. I was actually visiting a friend, but he happens to live nearby this celebrity grave on the coast of Norway.
The first thing that meet us is a parking sign with his name on it. From the sign it is about 500 meters or so to the actual grave mound.
The grave mound itself is surprisingly small, but according to the official story he was buried underground, and the mound erected above it. We were told that the local talk is that Keiko was never actually buried there in the first place, but rather hauled out to sea, blown up and sunk like what is common with stranded whales that die. However, a piece
by the Norwegian national broadcaster (NRK) the grave has actually been partly excavated and confirmed — but somewhere else on the same field than where the actual mound is.
In any case, it was a nice, but rainy walk, and we got to be tourists for a short while.
